Does it glow in a normal lit room, or only in the dark?
You'll see the glow in a softly lit room, and it looks its best in the evening with the lamps low. In full daylight it reads as a clear board with colored writing.
Can I leave it plugged in all the time?
Yes. It runs on low-power LEDs and stays cool to the touch, so it's fine to keep on your desk or nightstand. There's a switch to turn the light off when you don't need it.
Do the markers dry out fast?
Cap them after each use and they last a long time. Standard neon fluorescent markers are widely available if you ever want to restock or add a color.
Can I stand it upright, or does it have to lie flat?
It comes with a stand so you can prop it up at an angle on a desk, shelf or nightstand. It works flat too if you'd rather draw on a table.
