How long does it stay lit on one day of sun?
On a full charge from a bright day, expect a solid evening of light. Shorter winter days or a shady spot will give you less run time.
Does the solar panel need direct sun, or is shade okay?
It charges best with several hours of direct sun. Deep shade will still charge it, just slower and for shorter evening run time.
Can I leave it out all winter?
Yes. The housing is built for outdoor use year-round. In freezing climates, battery run time drops in cold weather, so expect shorter evenings.
Is there an on/off switch, or is it fully automatic?
There's a switch on the unit. Turn it on once and the light sensor handles the rest, coming on at dusk on its own.
