Will the adhesive work on glossy or smooth surfaces?
Yes—the included adhesive pads grip smooth surfaces, metal, and finished wood. For extra-heavy doors or high-traffic areas, use the included screws for maximum hold.
How strong are the magnets?
Strong enough to keep standard cabinet doors and drawers firmly closed, but easy enough to open with normal force. For very heavy doors, we recommend using two sets.
Can I use these in an RV or motorhome?
Absolutely. These are popular for RV cabinets and drawers that swing open during travel. The thin profile and strong hold make them ideal for mobile homes.
Do I need to align the pieces exactly?
The magnets work best when the two pieces meet perpendicular to each other (one horizontal, one vertical). A small gap is okay—they'll still hold.
- Step 1: Clean both surfaces with a dry cloth to remove dust and debris.
- Step 2: Peel the backing from the adhesive pad and press the magnetic piece firmly onto the inside of the cabinet frame. Hold for 10 seconds.
- Step 3: Attach the steel plate to the inside of the door, aligned with the magnet. For best results, let adhesive cure for 12-24 hours before heavy use.
- Step 4: (Optional) If you prefer screws, use the pre-drilled holes and included screws for permanent installation.
